I’m worried.
The General Assembly reconvenes in Madison in less than a month, and with major legislative battles on the horizon, I still haven’t received your membership renewal for 2023.
Christy, if you’ve mailed in your membership renewal forms or renewed online and our records have simply not caught up fast enough — then I hope you’ll forgive my mistake.
You see, while Tony Evers did win re-election, thanks to mobilized gun owners, both the State House and the State Senate maintained majorities in Madison – with the Senate gaining enough votes for a SUPERMAJORITY and falling just a couple votes short of a Supermajority in the Assembly.
WIFC members know that there’s a big difference between being a Republican and being pro-gun, as Madison is full of RINOs. But defeating Democrats who openly hate the Second Amendment is always something that WIFC will be proud of!
But it wasn’t just legislative races where gun owners sent a message.
Senator Ron Johnson was re-elected to the United States Senate by just 26,000 votes, beating Communist candidate Mandela Barnes and securing a badly needed seat!
At the federal level, gun owners fired Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House and we took that chamber back from the radical left, limiting what Joe Biden can do in Congress.
Sure, it wasn’t a ‘Red Tsunami.’ Chuck Schumer still holds the Senate. But the days of ramming gun control bills through the House at warp speed are over…and that’s why I’m worried.
You see, Joe Biden is ALREADY talking about using Executive Orders to advance his gun control agenda in 2023 and 2024; he knows that he can’t move them legislatively.
And until the Wisconsin General Assembly passes the Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA), we’ll have no protection from these unconstitutional mandates! Worse, our own cops will be the ones who are ordered to enforce them on gun owners in Wisconsin!
That’s why it’s crucial that we go ‘all in’ on passing a real SAPA law next session.
SAPA legislation is not complicated. It asserts our state sovereignty and tells the White House that Wisconsin has its own Constitution, our own laws, and our own cops that are funded by our tax dollars — and it reminds Joe Biden to back off!
Specifically, SAPA orders Wisconsin’s troopers, deputies, and city officers to ONLY enforce Wisconsin laws when it comes to firearms, ammunition, and accessories.
If Joe Biden wants to attack our freedoms with Executive Orders, we can’t stop him from signing them, but we damn sure don’t have to let our cops help him enforce them in Wisconsin!
Sure, Biden could have federal authorities enforce his agenda here in Wisconsin. SAPA law can’t prevent that.
But the simple fact of the matter is that Biden won’t. More precisely, he can’t enforce Executive Orders with federal agents. He simply doesn’t have enough manpower, and he never will.
So, while SAPA isn’t a nullification bill that challenges federal authority, it has essentially the same result. Wisconsinites won’t have to live in fear that our cops will be enforcing whatever insanity Biden decides to decree by Executive fiat, because our cops will be OFF LIMITS to him!
Sadly, some Wisconsin police chiefs will want to enforce federal gun control decrees. Police chiefs in cities like Madison and Milwaukee have been warring against our rights in the legislature for years.
To make sure that these politically appointed department heads comply with the law, the SAPA legislation that we will be filing will carry civil penalties, allowing gun owners to take a rogue agency who violates SAPA law into court for civil damages!
This is the identical legislation that Missouri passed last
year. And it’s already survived three court challenges there.
With Joe Biden threating more Executive Orders that will infringe on our right to keep and bear arms, NOW is the time for SAPA law.

But this isn’t the only reason why I hope you’ll renew your membership for 2023. I also need your help to stop ‘Red Flag’ laws.
Last summer Joe Biden passed a massive gun control bill that gave the DOJ $750 MILLION DOLLARS to legally bribe states to pass ‘Red Flag Gun Seizures’ into law!
Since liberal states have already enacted this legislation, Biden, and Attorney General Merrick Garland plan to flood Republican-led states (like Wisconsin’s General Assembly) with this money — hoping to start a domino effect.
It’s hard to even describe what would happen if Wisconsin were to adopt ‘Red Flag’ laws in exchange for twenty, thirty, or maybe even fifty million dollars’ worth of ‘free’ money.
Depending on how the legislation is written, this bill would let virtually anyone claim that you’re ‘dangerous’ and ask a liberal judge to order the confiscation of your firearms before you’ve been charged or convicted of anything whatsoever!
That means that your embittered ex-spouse could disarm you.
Or maybe it’s a liberal neighbor, who hates the Wisconsin Firearms Coalition bumper sticker you have on the back of your truck, who files this ‘complaint’ out of pure spite.
The point is that you’d never know who was trying to ruin your life with a ‘Red Flag’ complaint until the police were at your front door with a gun seizure order in hand!
This is madness.
But just because ‘Red Flag’ laws violate the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th Amendment to the constitution doesn’t mean they won’t pass here in Wisconsin — especially in the wake of a mass shooting and with Biden handing out tens of millions of dollars!
We need to be ready for this fight.
On top of stopping ‘Red Flag Gun Seizures’ AND passing badly needed SAPA, there will be a huge fight to stop the Statewide Gun Registration bills that are being pushed in Madison and finally pass Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground law as well.
As you can see, there’s a lot on the line next session.
I wish I could say that WIFC is loaded for bear and ready for a fight next session. But after our expensive election battles we are dangerously low on funds right now.
Working together, we can pass these life-saving expansions to our Second Amendment freedoms AND stop the litany of gun control bills that Tony Evers and his stooges will be putting forward in just a few weeks!
There’s a lot to do. And with pro-gun majorities in Madison higher than ever, it’s time to go ‘all in!’
